Our Story

On March 5, 1884 a group of dedicated men and women met to pledge money for the construction of the church.  Records were kept of the pledges and materials purchased from the 12,000 wood shingles for the roof down to the two wood burning stoves with stove pipe at $11 and water pails and dippers which cost $1.25.  The land was deeded by Willis Green Douglas for the church yard.  When the building was finished and furnished, it was completely paid for.

It is not completely certain when the first services were held but on May 2, 1886 the following statement was recorded in the church record book:

"We, the Disciples of Christ at Oak Hill, Texas County, MO as an organization, do covenant ourselves together to meet and worship God together, taking the Bible for our guide of faith and rule and practice to keep all His ordinances according to His holy and divine will.  This, the second day of May in the year of our Lord 1886."

Don Crockett

Don Crockett and his wife Wendy came to Oak Hill Christian Church in 2003 to serve as pastor and minister. Don & Wendy have two daughters, Jacina and Aubrey, who have grown up at Oak Hill and love this church as their own family.

The thing that Don loves about Oak Hill Christian Church is the family atmosphere and the opportunities that provides to encourage believers to grow in their faith through the teaching of
God’s Word, as they serve the Kingdom, and to share the Word of God with those who have never heard. The fellowship of believers is sweet as we navigate the corridors of life.
